I was tasked with creating an onboarding user flow that will encourage conversions within the target market (teenagers finding their financial freedom.). I started off by subtracting clicks, streamlining the process and not worrying about branding. This progressed to incorporating feelings of fun and delight through moving elements, vivid background images and interactive carousels to keep the user engaged.

I refreshed and rebranded ImageNPay from the logo up. Through extensive iteration and feedback from the team, I landed on our magenta hero icon. It reflects the imagery of a camera lens, combined with a bank vault door and represents what ImageNPay stands for... far from the look and feel of a standard payment app.

I presented to stakeholders regularly to discuss broader approaches to the success of the app, right down to semantic details liked notification styles. Considering the nature of working in a start-up, it was important to keep stakeholders informed throughout my design process.

I then iteratively prototyped in Adobe XD and collaborated remotely with a team of developers to bring the new ImageNPay app to life. This is an ongoing process, ever looking to refine and improve.

I travelled to London to meet the team and test the app in-person. We ran some short focus groups and gathered feedback on the feelings of users. Given the challenges of the pandemic, and although not ideal at the stage of the project, this was a valuable opportunity to carry out in person testing that I had not been afforded early on in the design process.
ImageNPay…
… was a great opportunity for me to work in a fast-paced start-up environment. I put my design learned design skills to the test and learned how to collaborate with developers and stakeholders alike. I obtained valuable experiences presenting ideas remotely, and realised the importance of working not only to deadlines, but within budget and functionality restraints.
